Our Personal Story
We’re Jennifer and Nicole, and we have loved everything about nature for as long as we can remember. Even in our youth or now when in group settings, we often found ourselves drifting off to explore. From the tiniest sea creature to the tallest tree, we honor the energy that surrounds us and believe the choices we make while we’re here truly matter.
Some of our favorite moments have been spent wandering trails, searching shorelines for treasures, watching wildlife, and discovering the small wonders that so many people pass by. Those experiences continue to shape both our lives and the heart of Ignis & Aqua.
Why We Share
We decided to start sharing our passion for nature and intention driven practices because we know how transformative and joyful this journey can be. Throughout our lives, we’ve sometimes felt different from those around us and found it challenging to meet people who shared our love for nature and intention based practices. That inspired us to create a space for finding kindred spirits and fellow wanderers, people who share in our curiosity, appreciation, and joy.
More than that, we want to create a place where people feel they truly belong, a space to be inspired, ask questions, share experiences, and connect with others who understand and appreciate your path. If this resonates with you, come in and stay awhile.
Why Ignis & Aqua
Ignis & Aqua is more than a name, and instead, it’s a reflection of the energy we strive to bring into everything we create. Inspired by the Latin words for Fire (Ignis) and Water (Aqua), it embodies the balance of opposing forces: the bold, radiant spark of fire and the deep, intuitive flow of water.
This balance is also deeply personal. Astrologically, Nicole has a lot of the fire element in her chart and Jennifer is mainly water. We use our energies to inspire everything we source and create, from products to experiences that honor the natural world and encourage intentional living.
Ignis & Aqua is our reminder to embrace duality, and to honor both our fiery ambitions and our reflective, intuitive nature. It’s a philosophy that guides our shop and our lives, and we hope it resonates with you as you explore, collect, and connect with the beauty and energy of the natural world.
What We Believe
We approach our shop with intention, care, and transparency. As we explore spiritual, historical, and nature based traditions, we strive to do so with respect, cultural awareness, and ethical consideration. We recognize that many practices have deep cultural roots, and we are committed to approaching them thoughtfully while continuing to learn, grow, and listen. We may not always get everything right, but we will always do our best to respond with humility, make adjustments when needed, and treat others with respect.
Nature belongs to all of us. We believe there is value in curiosity, learning, and personal experience. While we personally embrace the metaphysical properties of the items we offer, we honor all ways people connect with them. Whether you are drawn to a crystal because of its geological history, its symbolism, its beauty, or the way it makes you feel, your connection is valid.
A Little More About Us
Ignis & Aqua is truly a labor of love. We dedicate our personal time to sourcing, creating, learning, teaching, and building this community.
Everything you see here is managed by just the two of us. From product sourcing and photography to educational resources, live sales, readings, customer service, packing orders, and caring for our ever growing collection of nature inspired treasures.
Jennifer has an extensive background in psychology and brings that perspective into her readings by blending psychological insight with spiritual exploration. She specializes in natal chart interpretation, transit analysis, predictive astrology, relationship astrology, medical astrology, and spiritual astrology, and mundane astrology blending her years of study in traditional and modern astrology. She is also a certified professional tarot reader.
Nicole's path has been deeply rooted in nature and conservation. She is certified in Forest Therapy, Ocean Therapy, Wildlife Conservation, and Forestry Management. She has spent years volunteering with wildlife rehabilitation organizations and has previously served on nonprofit boards supporting wildlife care and conservation efforts.
Together, our love of nature extends beyond appreciation into action. During our adventures, we frequently stop to assist wildlife whenever possible, whether helping a turtle safely cross a road, aiding an injured bird, relocating a stranded animal, or contacting local rehabilitators when additional care is needed. Protecting and respecting the natural world is not simply something we talk about. It is something we actively practice in our daily lives.
Our little "Familiars"
And of course, we cannot leave out the true rulers of the household. Our two beloved pets, Phoebe, a spirited Shih Tzu who runs the whole show, and Wren, our sweet Italian Greyhound who thinks Phoebe is her whole world, keep life lively and grounded.
Honoring the Ones We've lost
We also honor the pets who have been part of our lives and shaped our journey. Wiley, Nicole’s longtime companion of 18 years, and Ash, our sweetest rescued pup whom we lost unexpectedly, are with us in spirit. We carry their love, joy, and lessons with us always. They’re a reminder of the enduring bonds we share with our animal companions and the joy they bring into our lives.
